Here is the latest news on the Camp’s current projects:

  • Construction is finally nearing completion on the two new Chinook Village dorms to serve the Special Friends Overnight Camps. There is some finishing electrical and plumbing projects to be done as soon as the contractors are able to schedule the work, and outside landscaping and site grooming to be done early next year.

  • Solar Panels ProjectThe Camp was awarded a grant from the Snohomish County P.U.D. for a solar power project installed on Cedar Lodge. The solar panels are up and running, producing electricity that is providing part of the power needs for Cedar Lodge. We appreciate the fine work of Arlington Electric who did the installation and grateful for the funding received from Snohomish PUD through the Planet Power program.

  • The exteriors of the Stables barns are currently being painted with volunteer help.

  • Work is underway to create 100 more parking spaces for The Lights of Christmas. These spaces are needed to handle the ever-growing numbers of vehicles that arrive each evening of The Lights.

Here is the latest news on the Camp’s current projects:

  • The renovation work in lower Cedar Lodge has been completed! This is the first time the kitchen has been expanded since the building was built in the late 1950’s. The refurbishing work in Cedar Lodge Chapel will be done next year, and will focus on updating the room, installing energy efficient windows, and upgrading the audio/visual systems.

  • SF Dorm Flooring1Construction is nearing completion on the two new Chinook Village dorms to serve the Special Friends Overnight Camps. Right now, the flooring is being installed (photo at right). We expect the dorms to be done by the end of September. Once construction is finished, there will still be some outside landscaping and site grooming to be done that we will need a work crew to help with.

  • Bayview Ranch House has received fresh paint and the new gutters have been installed.

  • Camp groups have really been enjoying the expanded fire circle and stage area at the Amphitheater this summer. These improvements are in preparation for a new permanently installed outdoor sound system scheduled to go in next year. This project is being funded by the Apostolic Family Camp and Warm Beach Camp.

  • New playground equipment in the Tot Lot is installed and ready to provide lots of fun for the younger campers. We are grateful for the donors who gave financial gifts for this project, and for the volunteers who installed it. Let the fun begin!

  • Many of our landscaping rail fences that help beautify the grounds have been replaced this summer by several MMAP volunteer groups. We are grateful for their help with this project.

  • The Camp has been awarded a grant for a solar power project that will be installed on Cedar Lodge. The project installation is scheduled for this fall, and is expected to provide up to 20% of Cedar Lodge’s power needs.

Here is the latest news on the Camp’s current projects:

  • KitchenRemodelEditedThe renovation work in lower Cedar Lodge is progressing well. The kitchen remodel work where the old walk-ins used to be should be completed in May. (See photo at right.) The Camp Board has authorized work to begin on refurbishing Cedar Lodge Chapel in 2016. This project will focus on updating the room, installing energy efficient windows, and upgrading the audio/visual systems.

  • The two new Chinook Village dorms to serve the Special Friends Overnight Camps are currently under construction. These dorms are designed to accommodate those with special needs. A crew of volunteers came one Saturday in March and got all of the exterior walls, trusses and roof up on one cabin, and the walls up on the second cabin, all in one day! If you or your group have construction skills and could help in the next few weeks for a day or more in the next few weeks, please contact Jessica Wilson at (360) 312-3417. These two dorms are scheduled for use at the Special Friends Overnight camps this summer.

  • A new health room, office, and storage area have been built at W-Bar-B Ranch this spring. Just the electrical and finish work remains to be completed. The health room provides an area where the camp nurse can dispense medications and address the medical needs of the campers. This project is funded, in part, by a foundation grant.

  • Bayview Ranch House is being painted this spring and will get new gutters this fall.

  • At the Stables, the construction of the new manure shed is underway, scheduled for completion in June. This project helps the Camp protect the water quality in Port Susan Bay from the run-off from our herd of horses.

  • Work is underway on the Amphitheater, installing a retaining wall beyond the fire pit to expand the “stage” area, allowing more room around the campfire, or for worship teams leading singing. This is in preparation for a new permanently installed outdoor sound system scheduled to go in next year. This project is being funded by the Apostolic Family Camp and Warm Beach Camp.

  • We are getting ready to make repairs to the south wall of the Dining Room in Cedar Lodge. This wall faces directly into the harsh winter weather and had developed rot that must be torn out and the wall repaired. The siding, insulation, and windows will be replaced, along with any needed structural repairs.
